So yesterday I posted about this British sci-fi show I’ve become obsessed with, Primeval. Well, obsessed isn’t exactly how I feel about it. Fascinated. Drawn in. Willing to pay $1.99.
Yes, I have just discovered Amazon Video. I may be slow on the uptake, but I was looking to see if season four was available. And there they were, episodes within my reach, for the low, low price of $1.99. Would I do it?
I did.
And I discovered that you can CONNECT YOUR TIVO, too. Ok, full honesty here, I actually was aware this service existed, but had never used it. Until now.
Oh no.
It was like that first miracle of receiving a digital book all over again. I willed it, and there it was. Fantastic. It’s like living in the future, but right now.
I started watching the episode within minutes, and then realized ehh, I’m not sure I like season four. But at least I didn’t have to wait months to figure that out (the budget has grown each season, and each season it’s lost a little bit of its homemade charm. It’s starting to take itself very seriously).
Amazon, you’ve changed the way I do everything, and I never even saw it coming (please note: I am not an Amazon affiliate or compensated by Amazon for these comments in any way, as Amazon and my state can’t seem to play nicely. The above opinions are my own).
Other sci-fi you might enjoy: Torchwood, Being Human (the British version only), Firefly, Farscape (involves a wormhole), Fringe, Tin Man (ending is shakey, but good), and any of the Stargates. Hold on, Matt Smith “becomes” the Doctor just as all the rest have – and I have watched them all since Patrick T.
Thanks so much, Dorothy! I have absolutely loved all of Joss Whedon’s stuff, but I just couldn’t get into Firefly. I tried the movie, though, not the show yet. And I do love Nathan Fillion, Castle’s worth watching just for him. I’m so excited to try some of these options. I just added Being Human, it looks fun. I actually watch Fringe (it’s been really good this season, I’m steeling myself for a major cliffhanger, since they were renewed (yay!)). I watched Tin Man (it was a mini-series, right?) for the cast, and it totally agree with your take.
It’s so nice to have a list in reserve, TV has become kind of like books in that way, what if I run out of stuff to watch?! Oh, and the season five discs should be shipping soon, so I’ll keep you posted.
